Should I consider accepting a lower salary?

YES
Before entering any salary negotiation, know your bottom line. But as the bargaining continues, try to look beyond the salary itself. Consider the total package before making your decision. At times, you may find the tradeoffs make it palatable for you to accept a lower salary. For example, you need to factor in the added value of the benefits package, the firm’s promise to reward outstanding performance with a substantial increase in pay after a six-month job review, and don’t overlook the opportunities for growth and rewards as your career progresses with your prospective employer.
