Should I work for Uncle Sam?

YES
Not so long ago, the federal government struggled to retain legal personnel when law firms were paying six-figure salaries. Now that layoffs are commonplace, associates and in-house counsel are flocking to Uncle Sam. Why? Job security, of course. In fact, the numbers of lawyers who want to come in from the cold are as great now as during the last recession. Indeed, some government agencies are receiving hundreds of applications for a single spot. But it’s not just the steady job and paycheck. For some, Uncle Sam is home during good times and bad. And for others, it is a stepping stone. If you’re interested in government work, check the big online job board at Monster.com, and USAJobs.opm.gov, run by the federal office of Personnel Management.
